Rococo Mohair Pullover Is Finished

Good evening, everyone.
It feels like I was just wearing short sleeves a little while ago, and suddenly it’s sweater season again.
I hope you’re all keeping warm and well.

The sweater I’ve been sharing little by little on Instagram is finally complete!

How does it look?
It’s a pullover with a truly beautiful lace pattern, and I especially love that the design continues down the sleeves as well.

Here’s a close-up of the stitch pattern.
There are so many interesting techniques packed into this piece!
One unusual part I noticed is where several stitches are gathered together and the yarn is wrapped tightly around them.
See if you can spot it—it’s just below the section with the four twisted-stitch lines.
Can you see how it’s neatly bound together?

Discovering new techniques always excites me.
Since the pattern is written in English—and I’m not very confident in English—I usually have to rely on translation tools, study the photos, and look at other knitters’ projects before I can figure it out.
It often takes some trial and error, but once I finally get it, the sense of accomplishment is wonderful.

As for this sweater, I actually noticed a mistake right at the point where the body and sleeves separate, and I ended up reknitting everything except for the neck ribbing.
Considering how intricate this pattern is, realizing the error was heartbreaking, and I couldn’t bring myself to pick up my needles for a while.
But after some time, I slowly finished it—and I’m so glad I did.

At the recent Yarn Party hosted by Okadaya, I brought this piece as a sample, and it made me so happy to see so many people touch and admire it.

No matter which angle you look from, it’s a beautiful sweater!
Since the lace is the main feature, I chose a softly shaded semi-solid yarn to highlight the details.
I think the bobbles and lace patterns show up beautifully in this color.

The pattern is by Sari Nordlund.
I often knit her designs—they’re practical for everyday wear but always have a refined edge to them.
She’s one of my favorite designers, and I highly recommend giving her patterns a try.
