About Semi-Solid Yarn

As I mentioned the other day, I’ll be releasing a hand-dyed yarn inspired by the popular “Peach” colorway.
Rather than simply bringing back the same version as before, I decided to add a few new colors to make things more interesting.
While I’ve introduced the yarns on Instagram, I’d like to take this opportunity to go a bit deeper here on the blog.
Today, I’d love to introduce the new semi-solid yarns.

First, let me explain what semi-solid yarn is.
At first glance, it may look like a single solid color, but if you look closely, you’ll notice subtle variations in tone and shade.
While hand-dyed yarns with mixed, vibrant colors are always popular, semi-solids have a steady fan base too.
I think one of the reasons is that the gentle color shifts don’t interfere with stitch patterns.
For intricate designs, using a simple semi-solid yarn helps the pattern stand out at first glance.
Yet when you look closely, the subtle color transitions give the fabric a beautiful, nuanced look.

Now, here’s the lineup of this new semi-solid yarn collection:

I have HT Merino Sock, Original Yarn, Kid Mohair, Nep Yarn, and Alpaca Lace.
They’re all dyed in the same colorway, but each base takes the dye differently—that’s the fascinating part of hand-dyeing.
Kid Mohair, in particular, turned out uniquely: the core took on a deep peach pink, while the fluffy halo took on a much softer, lighter shade, creating a beautiful contrast with the richer core.
I think they’ll look absolutely adorable when held together with other yarns.

The Nepp Yarn includes neon-colored nepps, so even though it’s a semi-solid base, it brings a playful, lively feel to even simple stitch patterns.
Personally, I recommend using it for garments or hats.

I released a wide range of semi-solid options so that they could be used for all kinds of projects.
For socks, the HT Merino Sock is ideal.
For delicate stitch patterns, the Alpaca Lace is perfect.
And for garments, the Original Yarn works beautifully.
I made sure to cover all the bases.

So, what would you make with this colorway?
If you have any project ideas or recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
The yarns will go on sale starting June 20th at 8:00 PM (JST).
Thank you so much for your support!
