Secrets of Original Yarn

Good evening everyone.
My POP UP SHOP has been open since the other day.
And some of you have reported that you have been there!
Thank you very much for visiting .

I received comments from customers that "the feel of the original yarn was very nice" and "my hands were happy with the touch of the knitted fabric when I knitted it.
There were many things we wanted to write about Original Yarn, but due to space limitations, we were unable to do so, so this time we would like to share with you its charm.
As the name suggests, original yarn is a unique material made for Bon voyage hand dyed yarn.
Before I started dyeing, I had been working with a variety of yarns as a knitting hobby.
Yarns have completely different textures depending on the manufacturer, raw materials, and spinning method.
There were some expensive yarns that I bought and shaped, only to find that they didn't suit my skin and ended up only as decoration.
So when I made my own yarns from materials, what I focused on was "something that feels good on the skin.
The material I chose was merino wool (18.5 microns).
It is known as one of the softest and most hygroscopic of wools.

The fineness is a unit of fiber fineness (micron), and in the world of fibers, the finer the wool, the better it feels against the skin and is said to be of high quality.
Merino wool traded in the industry is approximately 25-16.5 microns.
Cashmere, the jewel of fibers, is 14-16 microns.
The finest merino wool fibers are used to produce that unique smooth and moist yarn.

And although one skein of original yarn is 100g/400m, it feels thicker than other yarns.
However, the fibers are not stuffy because of that, and it has a fluffy lightness as if it contains air.
Therefore, you can knit a sweater with 3 skeins (of course, it depends on the pattern and size).
The knitted sweater is thin but warm, and above all, it is lightweight.

Also, when knitted together with other materials, they have a unique feel that accentuates each other's qualities.
So far, we have tried Original Yarn and mohair, and Original Yarn and alpaca lace.
The former was described by someone as "melting away" because of the mohair's fluffy yet moist texture.
It was a large shawl and was used as a lap blanket because it was so warm.
The latter adds softness to the alpaca and gives a gentle impression to the knitted fabric.

Although it is a little more expensive than other materials, we believe it is well worth the price.
A POP UP SHOP is being held at Okadaya in Shinjuku until June 15.
Please take this opportunity to touch and feel our original yarns.
