Paintings seen at the Musée d'Orsay

Good evening, everyone.
In my last blog entry, I wrote about the "Almond Blossom" that I saw at the Van Gogh Museum, and this time I would like to talk about France.

When it comes to famous museums in France, the Musée d'Orsay probably comes up alongside the Louvre.
The reason why I came to this museum was very simple: I found a painting related to an artist I liked at the time, but even before I entered the museum, I was struck by the building.
This museum is a bit unusual in that it is housed in an old train station.
Museums are usually intricate and you have to move from one room to another, but the Orsay is very spacious, giving you a sense of openness.

While looking at the paintings in such a luxurious space, the one that caught my attention was "Romans during the Decadence".
Why, because it was very large in size.
I looked it up and found that it was 7.7m x 4.7m!
As for the content, it depicts how they were indulging in alcohol and lust for color despite the decline of their own country.
The point is the two men watching it quizzically in the midst of it all.
Are they bored or disdainful …?
The new yarn is dyed with this theme, and the colors of the clothes worn by these two men will appear.

The other painting I remember is "Van Gogh's Self-Portrait".
The reason is that I was horrified by the background of this painting.
I felt something morbid and disastrous in this painting.
(This is just my personal opinion.)

I will write more about the museum in my next entry.
