Croatia - Truffle pasta
When you think of the highlights of traveling, what comes to mind?
There are probably many things, but for me, food is definitely one of them.
While in Croatia, a local guide recommended a wonderful restaurant to us.
It was a place where you could enjoy traditional cuisine in a beautiful stone interior, with a rich and atmospheric space that felt almost like being inside a cave.
There, I had a pasta dish made with Istrian truffles.
The Istrian Peninsula in Croatia is known as one of the region’s famous truffle-producing areas.
As the waiter approached our table, the rich aroma of truffle gently drifted through the air.
Placed in front of me was a short pasta with a slightly unusual shape, almost as if it had been twisted and stretched by hand.
Taking my first bite with a bit of nervous excitement over trying something unfamiliar, I was immediately met with the rich cream sauce and the deep, fragrant flavor of truffle filling my mouth.
People often say that truly delicious food leaves you speechless, and that was exactly the case for me.
Having completely lost my vocabulary, all I could say was “delicious” as I quickly finished the entire plate.
After returning home, I felt compelled to capture this memorable experience in yarn, so I dyed this colorway while looking at photos of the truffle pasta.
