Autumn's Footsteps

Boiling water in a dimly lit kitchen, as if in a morning fog
The warmth coming from the mug is getting more comfortable these days

Walking to work instead of taking the bus today
Gingko leaves twirl in the whirlwind

During a walk with my child
I could see a little autumn leaves from the carefully tended garden
Brilliant red shines in the autumn sky
Then I felt a sudden chill in the air and squeezed my little hand

I bought a new dark green skirt
He recommended me a pink skirt that was "really girly"
But I don't like it at all
  I make my own decisions

The trees on the boulevard are slowly fading
   The seasons are changing
   She walks next to me,
we've shared a fair amount of time together
What do I know about her?
The autumn wind has risen and the leaves of the
   zelkova tree have fallen

The big chestnuts on the top of a mont blanc
I wondered when she would eat them
I looked at them and found that they were just like me
I'm the type of person who saves my favorites for the last
It's nice to find something in common

I get off the bus and walk home
I mutter to myself, "Good job again today"
I look up and the sky is a deep blue
The city I looked down on from the hill sinks
 into a swarm of blue
The autumn night is still long
