Finished my new cardigan!
Good evening, everyone!
There’s actually something I finished a while ago but totally forgot to share with you…
It’s this cardigan right here

Some of you might recognize it—yep, it’s the one I was working on over the New Year holiday.
I blocked it afterwards and have even been wearing it like normal, but I completely forgot to post about it.
So today, I want to go all in and talk about this cardigan!
This cardigan was knit holding three strands together.
If you’re wondering what that means—basically, the number in “X strands held together” refers to how many strands of yarn you knit with at the same time.
Pros of holding multiple strands together:
・You can adjust the thickness of the yarn.
・Combining different types of yarn creates a unique texture.
・Mixing different colors results in a beautiful blended fabric.
Cons:
・The strands can get twisted when casting on.
・If you need to unravel it, the yarns can tangle easily.
If you know of any other pros or cons, feel free to share!
As for why I chose three strands—mainly to get the right yarn weight.
The original pattern calls for a thicker yarn, but my shop doesn’t carry much in that thickness, so I went with three strands instead.
And honestly, I think it worked out great!
The smoothness of our original yarn and the fluffiness of the loop yarn came together to create a fabric that feels amazing.
Such a happy discovery!
Now, let’s talk about the pattern.

It’s a top-down construction, but not your typical one—it doesn’t have the usual raglan increases.
I personally mess up raglan increases all the time, so I really like this approach!
As for the design, it’s super simple and easy to style with anything.
I made mine a little cropped, but I think a longer version would look lovely too.
And let’s be real—the hardest part of making a cardigan is always...the buttons!
I spent way too long debating size and color before finally settling on gold buttons.
They really change the whole look, so I definitely recommend playing around and choosing carefully.
Now, here’s the tricky part: even though the cardigan fits just right, when I button it up, the fabric stretches and little gaps appear between the buttons—showing whatever I’m wearing underneath.

Can you see the gap between the top and second buttons in the photo?
I tried sewing the buttons a bit deeper in, but it didn’t really help—still got the same issue.
I think it might be better to either add more buttons with smaller spacing or knit the cardigan in one size up.
For now, I’m just planning to wear it open!
And finally, this lovely pattern is by one of my favorites—Sari Nordlund.
She’s known for her simple and enjoyable designs, and this one was no exception.
Highly recommend giving it a try!
