COMING SOON Sweater finally completed!

Good evening everyone.
Today I would like to talk about the completed COMING SOON Sweater.

This sweater uses a technique called half brioche knitting.
Many of you have probably heard of brioche knitting.
It is a mysterious knitting technique in which the pattern looks like rib stitch, but each stitch is a different color....
Yes, that is brioche knitting!
Brioche knitting is often knitted using two colors as shown above, but of course it can also be done with one color.

This is “half” brioche.
It is hard to put into words what “half” means, but please try it once.
If you have experience in brioche knitting, you will understand immediately.

The structure is completely different from rib stitch.
The fabric is thicker due to the extensive use of slip stitching.
Even with fine yarn, a reasonable volume is produced, resulting in a very warm product.
This is the recommended knitting method for the cold season.

The yarn used this time is our usual original yarn.
It is very smooth and moist, and my hands feel good while knitting with it.
So I always use this yarn.
It is a single color semi-solid yarn, but there are shades of color, which gives expression to the knitted fabric.
After a series of bright colors, I wanted to try a chic color this time and chose “Dark purple”.

There are several things I learned from knitting this time.
The first is that half brioche is very stretchy when blocked.
I went up one size from my normal size because the instructions said to go up one size if you want it to be oversized.
When I knit it up and put it on, it was as big as I imagined it would be!
“It's just right,” and then I tried blocking it.
It turned out to be about one size larger.
It seemed to stretch better vertically than when blocking regular knitted fabric.
So the arms and torso are longer than I expected.

I think the reason was that I didn't have the right size, needles, and gauge.
The specified gauge is 19 stitches and 42 rows, but I knit it with 20 stitches and 36 rows.
I thought this would knit up a little smaller, so I thought I could get away with an oversized M, but it stretched too much lengthwise.
There was too much deviation in the gauge of the vertical stitches.
I think that is the reason for the wide gap in the knitting.
If I were to knit it again, I would probably go down one needle size.
I think that would give it just the ideal shape.
However, it can be worn oversized with no problem.
This proves that the pattern is great.
But let me say a few words to those who are going to try it.

It takes a long time to knit!

This is in the half brioche knitting method.
1 row → p1, slip stitch
2 rows → k1, p2tog
If you are knitting flat, repeat the above.
Yes, 1/4 of the stitch is a slip stitch.
So, even if you knit it in a reasonable amount of time,
I had many moments when I thought, “Oh, it's still here...?

Another thing is that I use more yarn than usual.
Other sweaters can be knit with around 250g, but this time I used 300g because of the oversized size.
However, even with that, I would like you to experience this soft and fluffy knitted fabric.

After knitting, I have been thinking of various ways to dress it up.
I am thinking of wearing it simply with jeans, taking advantage of its oversized size.
Sneakers for a casual look or heels for a more mature look.
A skirt with a white shirt underneath, loafers on the feet, and glasses as accessories.
This sweater can be worn in a variety of ways.
The designer is Susanne Müller.
The patterns are simple and practical.
I have been looking at Ravelry and there are so many things I want to knit!
I hope you will try knitting it!
